Facilitating Communication
Learning to facilitate others through their input, brainstorming, resistances and confusions is a skill that serves us in all aspects of leadership. This workshop is fabulous for assisting managers and leaders to guide their teams toward an end result via listening and responding back to the team as all head with clarity and understanding towards a common course of action.
This facilitation skills workshop is most effective when the audience members already have a content area to facilitate or coach around. Half the day focuses on facilitation skills; the other half focuses on applying the facilitating skills to live practice with fellow workshop attendees, with real time feedback.
This workshop builds skills in the following areas:
- Learning the difference between facilitating and presenting
- Incorporating facilitation skills: paraphrasing, asking the right questions; surfacing and directing resistances, inspiring the group
- Integrating audience concerns
- Ensuring understanding has been reached
- Facilitating agreement of the next steps forward
- Using "the leader of the pack" to engage others
- Practicing these skills around real material in 10 - 15 minute scenarios with the audience
- Receiving feedback, input, acknowledgment and suggestions
- Learning from each others' example
